1941 Women's baseball
The National Women's baseball championships were held.
1943 Men's baseball
Two teams of United States Marines played baseball with 'speed, smartness, skill and snap'.

1946 The war was now over
so the rugby revival soon got under way. Canterbury played the kiwis in front of over 20,000 people.
1949 New Zealand athletics championships were held.
1950 The Centennial games
are held to celebrate Canterbury’s 100th anniversary. This was, at the time, the biggest gathering of top class athletes ever held in the Dominion, during which Roger Bannister thrilled the crowd with the fastest mile ever run in the Southern Hemisphere.
1950 British Isles
lost to the All Blacks by 8 points in front of 40,000 people.
1951 Softball
The national women's softball championships were held.
1951 Pipe Band
The New Zealand Pipe Band Championships was held (and again in 1956).
1953 Burt Sutcliff
set a New Zealand and World first class record when he scored 385 runs for Otago against Canterbury.
1953 Yvette Williams,
New Zealand’s only female to win a gold medal in athletics, competes in the Crichton Cobber Games.

1954 The Ranfurly Shield
was retained by Canterbury against Waikato with a last minute try. The conversion was never taken as the crowd rushed the field before the game could be completed.
1954 Canterbury’s success with the Ranfurly Shield
resulted in 196,000 spectators watching rugby at the park during this year.
1954 Father Peyton's
Roman Cathloic prayer rally drew a large attendance.
1956 New Zealand Amateur Athletics Association
hold the New Zealand Championships. A number of New Zealand records were broken.
1956 Carnival
was held to raise funds for the New Zealand Antarctic Expendition.
1956 Marching
The New Zealand marching championships was held. The Auckland team "Scottish Hussars" retained their national title.
1957 Embankment
is enlarged increasing the park capacity to 33,000.
1959 Dr Billy Graham
the American evangelist audience Tuesday 7 April was estimated at 35,000 but more than 50,000 people attended.
